Spinnaker Lodge No 9932
The Spinnaker Lodge was formed in 2016 by a group of Hampshire and Isle of Wight masons who were also boating enthusiasts. It’s open to anyone who is interested in the sea and wants to combine this with freemasonry.
Although named the Spinnaker Lodge, which reflects the sailing interests of the first few founders, it now firmly combines motor boating with yachting. There is a strong marine theme to the lodge which has a dress code appropriate to a Yacht Club, blazers, chino’s and deck shoes. Members proudly display the lodge burgee and join in singing ‘what shall we do with the drunken sailor” at the end of each festive board.
Since its’ consecration at the end of 2016, the lodge has grown rapidly and now has over 30 members together with a promising pipeline of new initiates.
There’s a warm welcome for visiting freemasons, especially so if you’d like to become a joining member of the lodge.
If you’re not a mason but interested in joining you’d also be very welcome, just go to How To Join
Meetings are held throughout the Solent
Many of the members travel to the summer meetings by boat so there’s always a lively rally accompanying each of the meetings.
All summer meeting dinners are white table affairs to enable wives and partners to join in. These are typically held at a nearby yacht club.
